Overview

About Sangoro Station

The Sangoro Research Station is located in the Nyanza lowlands and serves as a regional base for fisheries and aquaculture research in the lower Lake Victoria basin. Established in 1982, the station monitors the ecology of the Nyando and Sondu-Miriu river systems and associated wetlands that drain into Lake Victoria. It also conducts research into smallholder aquaculture systems adapted to lowland Nyanza conditions and supports community fish-farming initiatives in Kisumu, Kisii, and Homa Bay counties.
