Coral Reef Display
Vibrant coral ecosystems from Kenya's Indian Ocean coast showcasing the rich biodiversity of reef habitats and the species that depend on them.
The KMFRI Aquarium & Marine Museum is a public marine-education facility at KMFRI Headquarters in Mombasa. Run by the Institute — established in 1979 — it serves as a living classroom where visitors of all ages can explore the biodiversity of Kenya's Indian Ocean coastline and inland water bodies.
Housing live marine and freshwater species native to Kenyan waters, the aquarium supports KMFRI's mandate to promote awareness of aquatic resources and the importance of sustainable fisheries. School groups, researchers, and the general public are all welcome to discover the underwater world that sustains millions of Kenyans.
