About Kegati Station

The Kegati Research Station is an inland freshwater research facility in Kisii County, serving as a regional hub for aquaculture development and inland fisheries research in the southwestern highlands of Kenya. Established in 1990, the station focuses on aquaculture systems appropriate for the region's highland agro-ecology and monitors rivers draining into the Lake Victoria basin. The station provides technical support and structured training to farmers engaged in fish pond culture across Kisii, Nyamira, Migori, and neighbouring counties.
