Anthony Nzioka is a marine scientist with more than sixteen years of research experience in marine and coastal ecosystems. His work spans biodiversity assessments, fisheries, aquaculture, conservation biology and ecosystem health, with a strong emphasis on integrated coastal zone management and sustainable resource utilization. He has played a key role in developing Kenya's first marine hatchery in Shimoni and has collaborated with partners including WWF and the State Department for Fisheries and the Blue Economy in ecological monitoring of the Lamu Archipelago Seascape. Anthony is a certified SCUBA and Scientific Diver with extensive experience in underwater surveys of coral reefs, seagrass meadows, marine fish and benthic habitats. He is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Marine Environment and Resources at the University of the Basque Country (Spain), focusing on cell and molecular mechanisms involved in marine fish reproduction in the Northeast Atlantic Ocean.
