KMFRI marked World Fisheries Day 2025, traditionally observed on 21st November, at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Headquarters.

This year's focus theme is "Catalysing Sustainable Fisheries and Responsible Aquaculture Action for People, Ocean and Climate." The institute emphasizes that this observance "underscores the vital importance of sustainably managing and conserving fisheries resources."

KMFRI in collaboration with Kenya Fisheries Service and the Kenya Marine Fisheries Socio-Economic Development Project (KEMFSED) co-hosted the 2025 celebrations, bringing together stakeholders to exchange experiences and discuss ecosystem management.
