Dr. Ngisiang'e is an accomplished Senior Research Scientist at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI), Mombasa, with over a decade of experience in marine ecosystem monitoring, geospatial analytics, and blue assets mapping. His work integrates marine science with cutting-edge technologies to advance sustainable management of Kenya's coastal and offshore ecosystems.
Since joining KMFRI as a Research Scientist, he has contributed significantly to studies on fisheries bycatch, climate change monitoring, GIS and remote sensing, seabed and benthic characterization, and marine biodiversity assessments. In 2022, he was promoted to Senior Research Scientist, where he assumed leadership roles in multidisciplinary research across ocean and coastal systems.
His current work encompasses assessments of wind, current and wave energy potential, development of early warning systems, hydroacoustic fish stock evaluations, coastal and offshore fish larvae mapping, coral reef and seagrass habitat mapping, and computational modelling to support Kenya's blue economy and evidence-based policy formulation.
He is a dedicated mentor and collaborator who works closely with policymakers, universities, and development partners to promote innovation and sustainability in marine science research and ocean governance.
