Mr. Jared Nyabeta is a Research Scientist who has served the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for the last 25 years under the Aquaculture Directorate, currently based at the Sangoro Aquaculture Station. Between the years 1997–2012, he served as the Head of Technical Team at Kegati Aquaculture Centre before being transferred to KMFRI Mombasa, where he served as a fish seed production and hatchery management expert.

Mr. Nyabeta was also appointed as an Ornamental Aquaria Manager at KMFRI Mombasa, where he served until his transfer to Sangoro in the year 2021. He has extensive experience in fish culture structural establishment, fry production, and hatchery management on cultured fin fish species in Kenya, with particular emphasis on research on tilapia, African catfish, and ornamental species in growth performance and species diversification.

He was contracted by Bamburi Cement as a lead team to conduct work on the commercialization of Haller Park Fish Farm for fish quality, enhanced production, and income generation. Mr. Nyabeta has also been working on the assessment of male production of Nile tilapia and marine tilapia through exposure to temperature variations as an alternative technology for monosex production.

Mr. Jared Nyabeta's 25-year career at KMFRI brings unparalleled hands-on expertise in fish seed production, hatchery management, and ornamental fishery development – strengthening the Institute's capacity to produce quality seed for tilapia, African catfish, and ornamental species, pioneer alternative technologies for monosex production, commercialize fish farms for enhanced production and income, empower coastal and freshwater communities through practical aquaculture training, and advance species diversification and selective breeding programs for sustainable aquaculture development in Kenya.
