Charles Muthama is a seasoned Research Scientist at the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) with more than three decades of service since joining the Institute in February 1990. He began his career as a laboratory technologist in Biological Oceanography and transitioned into full-time research over the last decade. His work focuses on seagrass ecosystem ecology, with a strong emphasis on conservation and restoration of degraded coastal habitats. As an Advanced Open Water SCUBA Diver, he has also contributed extensively to coral reef ecosystem studies and Fish Aggregating Device (FAD) research. Mr. Muthama combines long-term field experience with scientific research to advance understanding of benthic invertebrate communities, seagrass ecosystem health, and marine biodiversity conservation along the Kenyan coast.
