Cabinet Secretary Joho courtesy visit at KMFRI

The newly appointed Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hon. Ali Hassan Joho EGH visited KMFRI on his first official trip since assuming office. He was accompanied by the Mombasa Governor and the Principal Secretary of the State Department of Fisheries and Blue Economy.

The CS emphasized KMFRI's importance in advancing the Blue Economy sector. He noted that "Stock assessment is critical and investors need this data," highlighting the breadth of blue economy components including mining, tourism, and oil extraction.

The Acting Director General presented KMFRI's research achievements and contributions to the blue economy. During the visit, the delegation planted commemorative trees at KMFRI headquarters and toured the herbarium, which houses freshwater and marine fisheries specimens.
