The Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) participated in the 2024 Blue Invest Africa conference held at Diamond Leisure Hotel in Kwale County. The delegation was led by Board of Management Chairman Canon Hon John Safari Mumba, Acting CEO Dr James Mwaluma, and Director of Aquaculture Dr Jonathan Munguti.

The conference gave stakeholders in the blue economy sector an opportunity to "showcase their research work and how it impacts the blue sector, emphasizing sustainable innovation, job creation, and marine ecosystem preservation from pollution."

KMFRI's exhibition featured fish value-added products, seaweed value-added products from Kibuyuni and Shimoni farmers, and the Kenya Aquatica scientific journal. The Acting CEO led government officials including Cabinet Secretary H.E Salim Mvurya through the KMFRI exhibition stands.
