Mr. Dzuya

Mr. Nelson Dzuya - Member, Board of Management
Mr. Nelson Dzuya was appointed to the Board of Management of the Kenya Marine and Fisheries Research Institute (KMFRI) for a three-year term effective 7th June 2024. His appointment was made by the Cabinet Secretary for Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs Hon. Salim Mvurya, and published in the Kenya Gazette on 7th June 2024.
He is a seasoned businessman and political leader with over 20 years of experience in heading and managing diverse organizations and enterprises. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration (Second Class Upper Division) from Moi University, as well as a Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management from the same institution.
Mr. Dzuya currently serves as a Board Member of the NGO Coordination Board, where his responsibilities include developing and reviewing policies governing the operations of NGOs in Kenya, monitoring and evaluating compliance with established regulations, resource allocation, and oversight of financial and human resource management.
In addition, he is the Chief Executive Officer of Pawn Security Services Limited, where he provides strategic leadership through high-level decision-making, policy development, and implementation of the company’s strategic plan.
His extensive political career includes serving as the National Chairman of the Jubilee Party of Kenya, where he chaired the National Executive and Management Committee meetings and ensured adherence to the party’s constitution.
As an entrepreneur, Mr. Dzuya has gained vast experience in the petroleum and transport sector. At Subira Shipping Contractors Limited, where he served as Operations Manager, he oversaw the delivery of fresh products, managed the discharge of waste oil from ships, and coordinated the transportation of cargo from the port to various Container Freight Stations.
With his wealth of experience across business, politics, and governance, Mr. Dzuya brings invaluable expertise and leadership to the KMFRI Board of Management.
