KMFRI Projects
KMFRI delivers applied research and innovation projects that translate marine and freshwater science into practical solutions for Kenya's Blue Economy. Our flagship initiatives bring together technology, data, and community engagement to support sustainable fisheries, aquaculture, and environmental management.
Featured Project
KijaniSpace
KijaniSpace — Kiswahili for “Green Space” — combines the KijaniBox IoT Kit with Copernicus Earth Observation data to deliver precision insights that transform smallholder agriculture and inland aquaculture across Kenya. By fusing ground sensors with satellite imagery, it enables evidence-based decisions on water quality, crop stress, and fish-pond management.
